Visitors to the yard...
I started to get the creeps as he was
watching me take the pictures, and I was
afraid he would come at me......
This one must be dying as I did not find her in
a web...... not that spiders are my favorites,
but if they were, these would be my favorites.
I do not know how this guy got on my
deck.....did he hop up the stairs?? Did
he climb up the support beam? In the
end however, he is a cutie!!
This little bird spent several nights in the
corner of the porch ceiling. He was not
there during the day..... curious!!!

I love how attentive the Praying Mantis is when it watches us watch it. Beautiful spider! Looks like a "writing spider," maybe. They make those zigzag designs in their webs, and they are quite large. We used to see them in the vegetable garden at this time of the year.
Yes about the spider.....I have always called them garden spiders. Usually they do have that web with the zigzag and the lack of that is what made me wonder if she was OK..... They are both beautiful and scary at the same time..... sort of like life!!
Just catching up on your amazing photos. In addition to the beauty, so much metaphorical stuff there if one cared to pursue it!! The flower within the flower, gourd of unknown origin, your friend's seemingly impossible yoga postures, and the mantis - which reminded me instantly of Mary Oliver's grasshopper - the mantis seems to be issuing the challenge of how we will use life. Keep snapping!
These pics are fabulous! I can't believe you are not a professional.
wow! that praying mantis is amazing. i love those spiders too...we've a few in our garden as well.
